This site is devoted to Stickies: one of the least influencial and most loved programs ever to grace the Apple menu.

Purchased by Apple Computer from Antler Software in 1994 to include with the release of System 7.5, Stickies continued in a grand tradition of bringing real-world productivity objects onto the Macintosh user's "desktop." In line with the trash can, the calculator, and System 7.5's keychain, anyone versed in the workings of the world could find themselves perfectly at home on their Macintosh.

Stickies provided us with a way to leave ourselves reminders, which would show up right on our desktop, like a regular sticky note would. They supported System 7.5's Window Shade feature, and were fully scalable and expandable, merging the benefits of real world sticky notes with computer-age convenience. And best of all, the adhesive never got dirty on your Mac, so they would keep on sticking.

There are a few secrets about Stickies, too!

One of the best is the secret Easter Egg. What you need to do is type "Antler!" in a note, and see what happens! I'm sure you'll be surprised.
Another special feature about Stickies you might not know about is that even if you close a note and don't save, just click "Undo," and your work is back from dismal beyond!

Aren't Stickies great? They even do HTML.

In fact, this page was designed completely using Stickies, and a few other built-in parts of the Mac OS like screen shots and the color picker.

I hope you've enjoyed the stickies page! Look for more pages in the future, like the upcoming "Web Authoring in AppleScript: The pages that seem to write themselves..." and other fine pages from Nathan Lee.
